MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships with ReLeafHubs Project at CeADAR

The MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships are prestigious grants aimed at supporting researchers with a PhD who are keen to expand their horizons, gain new skills, and build their networks through advanced training in international, interdisciplinary, and inter-sectoral mobility. This is a golden opportunity to be at the forefront of applied research and innovation.

This position offers you a chance to work for ReLeafHubs, where we are pioneering a transformative approach to remote working hubs (RWHs) in Ireland. This project stands at the intersection of AI, sustainability, and urban planning. We aim to optimise RWHs in Ireland using AI Digital Twins (AIDTs), thereby contributing to the global Green Transition movement.

Role and Project Overview

In the Summer of 2022, our research journey started with the Smart Dublin Open Data challenge, where we presented myrwhthe .app, an innovative AI-powered tool for Remote Working Hub (RWH) scoring. This tool raised RWH awareness and usage, earning first prize among 37 competitors.

The success sparked ReLeafHubs research to explore:

  1. How AI Digital Twins (AIDTs) could elevate RWH operations and user experiences.
  2. The potential role of AIDTs in optimising RWHs for Green Transition, societal impacts, and strategic urban planning.

Subsequently, the focus expanded to:

  1. The integration of amenities and hub facilities into a holistic RWH optimisation model.
  2. Enhancing user interactions within RWHs through AIDTs simulations.

Our methodology constructs AIDTs for RWHs using comprehensive data on operations, users, the environment, and transport. Individual and aggregate RWH Digital Twins are developed based on these data.

Later, a dual-method approach was employed:

  1. RWHs’ Recommender System: Building on myRWH.app, we are refining the scoring model by examining how amenities affect RWH scoring and their distribution across hubs. We also explore Ireland’s division into regions with multiple RWHs and associated amenities.
  2. AI Digital Twin for RWHs: We create Individual and aggregate digital twins to track RWH performance and user interaction patterns. We generate virtual RWH users, simulate their daily activities, convert this textual data into tabular form, and enrich it with real geospatial information via Agent-Based Models (ABM). This led to the development of AI models for behavioural analysis, RWH operations, and energy consumption.

By joining the ReLeafHubs project, you'll help redefine how we work and live, driving towards a sustainable, inclusive Ireland.
